"Skolf" is a competition whose name comes from a combination of the words "skate" and "golf", or perhaps "ski" and "golf"—the origins are disputed. Whatever the case, this skolf competition was a test of skill for both skiers and snowboarders at Liberty University's year-round outdoor snow sports facility called Snowflex. The goal is to complete all the "holes" by successfully executing the designated trick in as few tries as possible.
Inspired by a double silhouetted illustration I found online, I decided to place a silhouetted snowboarder attempting a trick within the silhouette of a golf ball and tee. Since Snowflex is renowned for their sunset views, I chose a sunset color palette, fading into the white "grass", or Snowflex material, that the athletes compete on. The golf ball in the "O" of "skolf" was my supervisor's idea.
