When I worked as a graphic designer for Liberty University's campus library in the summer of 2019, I got to create a lot of cool stuff. Scroll through to see some of what I created!

Research With Us

Research With Us is a campaign inspired by the Rise With Us campaign run by Liberty University Football. Instead of a larger-than-life Coach Hugh Freeze with his headset hovering over Williams Stadium with the football players collaged below, I set each of the Jerry Falwell Library’s research consultants over the library with their headsets that they use to talk to students and the Research With Us logo below them in the same style as the Rise With Us text. The goal of these posters and digital slides is to inform students of the help they can get on their research, and to introduce students in a fun and memorable way to these research experts that they may be interacting with.

Library Book Display

This project was unique because I was asked to do something I had no experience with, and I decided to use a software I had never used before. I was asked to design a bookshelf that would go on an prominent wall in the Jerry Falwell Library and would display front-facing books, posters, and other decorative items. Deciding to design this in 3D, I taught myself how to use Adobe Dimension and used it to build these bookshelf drafts. The administrative team didn’t quite know what they wanted at first, so the design went through multiple changes. What you see here are the many different variations I designed over time, with the most recent design at the bottom.

What's really cool about this project is that with the collaboration of my colleagues and the builders, I got to see my design come to fruition in real life, as seen in the final photo.

Holiday Slides

One of my first tasks at my job at the Jerry Falwell Library was to design digital slides for the upcoming holidays, namely Father’s Day, the Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving. I also designed the special hours of operation posters for the Fourth of July. With this project, I got to practice honing my illustration style and technique, as well as working with composition for different sizes across multiple digital platforms. For each slide, I designed a TV size, a web size, and a size to go on the myLU website.

Librarians of JFL

Librarians of JFL is a parallel to the social media series the Jerry Falwell Library did during the school year called Humans of JFL, which was an university-library-take on the social media campaign Humans of NY. The logo for Humans of JFL was already designed when I was tasked to design Librarians of JFL, so to distinguish this miniseries within the existing campaign, I illustrated a pair of glasses to interact with the letters in the logo. This project was also my first experience with photography using a professional camera.

Fun fact: the paintings behind Hannah in the second Instagram post were right above her head in real life, but I used Photoshop to move the paintings down for better visual interest and composition.
