I was asked to design the first-ever logo for the new club on Liberty's campus: Fellowship of Christian Engineers. After a lot of brainstorming and prayer, I came up with idea to use a blackletter style for the logo. When my point of contact described the organization and what they were all hoping it would be, I came up with a few words I felt embodied the organization and what should be reflected in the logo: Academic, Truth, Strength, and Community.

The Academic side can be seen in the Gothic letters, which are in same style as text used on university diplomas. The text also evokes sense of distinction and nobility, something the organization hopes to achieve.

Truth and Strength can be seen in the sturdy typography and hard angles. The Gothic/blackletter style of letters is similar to those in the original Gutenberg Bible, representing truth passed on over many years, and truth that stands strong over time. The type is also historic, and built to last, like the Gothic cathedrals of old.

The close-knit letters in the logo represent bonding in Community. The fish symbol, derived from the second arm of the F and E, can be used as a secondary symbol that’s also representative of Community. Many of Jesus' 12 disciples were fishermen, and FCE aims to build community around Christ, just like the 12 disciples.
